NIEHS Believes It is Time to Update Asbestos Regulations

As the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) announced, more than 20 years of health research suggests that it is time to update asbestos exposure regulations. NIEHS cited concerns about asbestos exposure to both workers and the community, as workers are likely to bring home asbestos dust on clothing or their bodies.

Current laws focus on protecting workers, but not the community they live in. Researchers have indicated that current protection methods being used to identify hazardous products and materials containing asbestos are not totally effective. For more on the NIEHS article, click here.
