New Yorker Sentenced to Prison Time for Violating Federal Clean Air Asbestos Standards

A factory owner from Rochester, New York, has admitted that he knowingly subjected untrained workers to asbestos during a removal operation. The factory owner, Anastasios Kolokouris, pleaded guilty last week to violating federal Clean Air asbestos work standards after inspectors from New York's Department of Labor and the EPA discovered that untrained and unprotected workers were removing asbestos from a dumpster at the warehouse.

The workers told inspectors that Mr. Kolokouris offered to pay them cash to remove the asbestos. Mr. Kolokouris may now be facing 15 to 21 months in prison due to his criminal effort to save some money. For the whole story, click here.
